The Start of my Home Theater
About two weeks ago my wife and I decided to start our basement project. About the only thing I could think of is why do this at Christmas... I think we "discussed" the timing for about a week. As usual she was right and it feels pretty good to have started this project. I'm looking forward to it being done so that we can enjoy our new theater room. Our last house had a decent setup but I found that it could not handle more than four people and it wasn't what I really wanted. We bought this house about three years ago and I immediately saw the room below as a theater room.
This room is 20' x 15' and screams for a front projection system and two rows of seats.
This whole area is going to present a bit of a problem because it has to have access and its larger than I would have liked it to be.
The entrance of the room will be a 6' french door that opens inward. I'm going to have to find a good outside door so that it is as heavy as possible. The idea here is that the doors could be opened to make the whole basement look bigger. To the left into the other room is another set of french doors though these will most likely be solid doors for better sound insulation. I figure that if all the doors are open then most of the basement becomes one room which will help when we have large groups of people over.
That's it for now. I've started on the wall for the screen and will update this when that wall and more is done. Comments are always welcome and please remember that I am not an expert in any of the required skills to build this. I do however know how to Google extremely well.
